Reid Zakos is a queer pop performer currently based in Vancouver, Canada. Born and raised in Calgary, he was born into a musical family and quickly possessed an electrifying stage presence and love for dance and theatre.
Inspired by artists such as Gwen Stefani, Lady Gaga, and Troye Sivan, Reid also loves to incorporate choreography, fashion, and bold visuals to his artistry.
Growing up in a more conservative city and time, he was often misunderstood and bullied for his flamboyance, sexual orientation, femininity, eccentricities, and non-conformist attitude.
He used his creativity as an outlet to express and accept himself, always presenting unwavering confidence when on stage – but at the same time internally struggling with depression, loneliness, and anxiety.
He began writing and producing songs at the age of 13 and also indulged in after-school dance classes and programs to keep himself busy and avoid more bullying.
He didn’t come out until age 17, but still struggled with fully accepting himself and his sexual orientation for a few years after. He graduated from the theatre program at Mount Royal University, landing the lead role in The Rocky Horror Show in his first year. In 2018 he relocated to Vancouver to further pursue his music career taking a songwriting and artist development program at the Nimbus School of Recording & Media.
In 2020 he released his first album “Legends & Myths”, inspired heavily by greek mythology paying homage to his ancestry. The album has retrowave and nudisco production and lyrical themes of self empowerment, heartbreak, and finding new love. His singles such as “Gladiator”, “Respect Me”, “A World of Yes”, and “Deck of Cards” all have a common theme of acceptance and believing in yourself no matter who tries to interfere.
He has since gone on to have over 20K video views on YouTube, and more than 25K streams worldwide. Reid hopes to inspire, affirm, and empower others to love and accept themselves and be kinder through his bravery and his music.
My name is Guillaume, I’m thirty-three years old and gay. I grew up in an ordinary family with both parents, two sisters and pets. From a very young age, my attraction to boys – not girls – challenged me.
